Never used conti's (grand prix 24mm) before - About to get my winter bike set up again....are they a good tyre for the damp/wet roads and the potholes....only ever bought Michelin's heard stories that the conti's are faster tyre's ??? old wife's tale or true :D

Depends on how much you enjoy fixing punctures? GPs are towards the performance end of the spectrum and like many Conti tyres IME are prone to cuts - personally I prefer something more durable for winter use like a GP4 Season or Schwalbe Durano or a Krylion / Pro Endurance / Ultremo DD for a faster ride with decent protection. I also find that Conti standard rubber isn't the best in the wet - plenty of experience of rear wheel skipping and slipping.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Cheers Monty - To be honest ive used the Michelin Krylion Carbons 25mm for a few years and hardly had a puncture....fancied a change to a faster tyre, tho going along with your thinking would rather go 1mph slower and get no punctures on a cold wet snowy scottish morning :D

I toured on grand prix's last year and over wintered on them too.

I can't say I can tell the difference from Kyrlions but for tow paths or the end of the Canal du Midi I think they are great.
Oh and please remember to click on my blog:

The more clicks I get the higher it creeps up the google radar :)
  • Kryilion seem great all round , especially in winter. As i ride a heavier and slower bike it dosen`t matter. i Have done a few road races on them and maintained my average results.
