First Road Bike - Commuter and trainer...help

I'm after your help with the following as I'm confused about what bike to get.
I've had a Marin Larkspur Hybrid for 18 months on which I commute 18 miles a day. I also ride 50-60 miles on a Sunday afternoon and have decided I need an all weather road bike. I don't want a 'race' bike that's twitchy and unforgiving.
I've been looking at a Forme Longcliffe (which the LBS is a dealer) and having looked through the forums the Kinesis T2 seems a popular choice.
I'm about 6ft 2 and 18 stone and have approx £1000 to spend.
