Nice fancy colour Dura-Ace Ultegra stuff, but your prime consideration when buying blocks is that they are as soft as possible, as that way they wear out quickly. You do want them to wear quicker than your expensive rims, don't you? Yes, of course you do. As these replacement blocks are so soft any hard grit or ali off the rims gets imbedded out of the way (they call them rim friendly), to be removed at your leisure/after each dirty ride. With all that in mind I run:

    they can be got

Also I find they stop well in the dry, with lots of progression, so back wheel's less likely to be locked. In the wet - I don't ride.
The Wife complained for months about the empty pot of bike oil on the hall stand; so I replaced it with a full one.

    Just buy some Swissstop greens.

For £19 for the best pads that are made I don't understand why anyone would look at anything else.

Don't buy Swissstop greens- they are overpriced and not very good (the yellows are fantastic though)

Koolstop are the way forward - salmon/blacks. Or Clarks jobs for a fiver from CRC - shockingly good for the money.

Yeah, but your stuff is all covered in mud from where you mistakenly threw it into next door's garden and then had to get it back. No wonder your brakes don't work.

SwissStop Greens are great - miles better than Koolstops.

yes they`re excellent and good value; I have recently though bought Swiss Stop Greens and they also work very well too, BUT the rear seems to be wearing at a very high rate, <700 miles and it looks half worn :(:( ---so for me Swiss stops have been good but an expensive option.

I fitted new set Koolstops on best bike, replacing the existing salmon / black after 5 000 miles and they were still showing plenty rubber left.

I agree that Koolstop salmon/black dual compound are excellent pads. Better than C ampag Record OE and cheaper than Swiss Stop.

I got them after reading a previous forum discussion when someone highlighted a link to the FSA website where a wide range of pads was tested in wet and dry. I seem to remember FSA concluded that Swiss Stop were good by Koolstop were the best.
