I am obviously new to this so please forgive the rather nieve questions i put up on here.
Budget shoes? What is out there that is good value - preferably under £50. Maybe stretch to £60 at a push?
Again i want to commute to work and for weekend riding.
Was thinking also for 2nd hand. I believe Shimano are a bit on the small size in that if my shoe size is 7 i should go for 8?

Think these are the ones I've got: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=55382 - £50.99.
Yes I had to go for a size bigger.
I'd make sure you try them first though as they can be funny, they also do wide fit ones etc.0 -

I like my DHB shoes from Wiggle, think they retail at £50. My foot measures 43 and I bought a 43, so sizes seems pretty reliable.0 -
Chain Reaction's returns are free... As is their shipping.
I can't remember the name of their returns system - maybe Collect Plus, too - but you just have drop the return package off at one of the many collection points and get a receipt. Simple, fast procedure.tick - tick - tick0 -
Just checked mine and they're actually the R097 rather than the 77 but look very similar! No idea what the difference is.
Anyway I was checking the size, I got a 46 which is a perfect fit. In any other shoes/trainers I'm always a UK Size 10.
I've just looked up the conversion and my normal size 10 equals a Euro size 44, a UK size 11 = Euro 45, and a UK size 12 = Euro 46.5. So it's actually over 1 UK size bigger - somewhere between a size 11 and size 12.
My feet are fairly regular - normal width etc.
Hope that helps.0 -
I bought these the other day which are the SPD version of the ones above (the ones above are SPD-SL - a purely road shoe): http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=55373 - £39.99 reduced from £69.99
I got cyclesurgery to price match these in store as I'd heard about the sizing problem and I didn't want the hassle of sending them back. For me, my normal size is a UK10 - size 44. I tried on a size 45 thinking this would be fine but they were still too small - I went for a size 46. Quite a few online reviews said the same...with some saying they went just one size up. I have a pair of these that are remarkably good for the money (£40)

Or these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-m10-mountain-bike-cycling-shoe/
Great shoes that you can walk in, and an easy to use returns service which is free. Go up a size from your normal.Share The Road Event http://www.sharetheroadride.co.uk
