Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my current road bike, a specialized allez 16 to something a bit nicer. I've got around £2,000 to spend and the n2a is standing out to me at the moment. Obviously I need to take it for a test ride to see how it fits but is there any reason not to get this bike other than if the fit isn't good? Also does anyone have any views on the 50mm wheels that come with it as I'm reasonably light at 70kg therefore I was wondering how cross winds will be?

Thanks in advance!

  • I bought one of the N2As in black/red a few weeks ago. I think the bike itself is beautiful although the matt finish is definitely more susceptible to chips than my previous gloss finish planet x pro carbon. Apparently the glossy guru blue and white versions have a tougher finish (assume all matt black bikes have this problem). I have to say I've found the shifting of the Force groupset quite clunky. I previously had an Ultegra groupset and thus far I preferred it although time will tell once the cables are done stretching. The wheels are great, I'm also around 70kg and haven't noticed any problem in crosswinds - I guess you just need to be more aware on descents. The bike feels really racy although it's still comfortable enough for long, 100km+ rides. I went for the large (I am 6') and it feels right to me. Enjoy!

Ive the white one. I like it.

I would prefer Ultegra over SRAM - but thats not an option. I can live with it though.

The wheels do catch the wind when its breezy - but thats the price of aero wheels. Its not a massive problem but I'd not ride those wheels on stupidly windy days.
  • Cheers for the replies! After looking round I've realised you can get the boardman pro carbon for £1600, I know it's unlikely people will have ridden both but I'm intrigued as to how they compare now!

I got the Boardman at the end of May and I love it! Had a Giant SCR3 before it and the difference is huge, the increase in stiffness alone is massive. Rides great, holds its speed superbly, and the fact it's sold by Halfords hasn't been a problem, guys in my local branch were excellent. Been slightly disappointed by the mavic wheels, they do roll nice but they've come out of true already - not a big deal and it's relatively quick to sort but still. I do have a lot more confidence in them than I think I would over the 50mm PX wheels (that's just me though, can't really speak objectively as I haven't even seen them in the flesh!)
