I am going to look at a Scott Foil 40 at the weekend. I can pick it up for £1500. But its a 54...Scotts size sheet says it would fit me, but its a close call..

any 5'8 riders rocking a 54cm frame

More to it than that, you've got to sit on it & try it. I'm 5'10" and find a 54 a bit too long for me as I'm long legged and have a short torso. Your body proportions are what it boils down too, but you may be able to get it to fit adjusting the saddle and/or changing the stem if it's close to fitting.

On the other hand, I'm 5'10 with a longer body and shorter legs and ride a 56cm.

Technically it should fit, but best to try and see.

Ah ok thanks for the feedback, ya see im torn between a Scott CR1 Team 2010 with 105 group for £900 or a brand new Foil 40 for £1500

    Doubt it very much.

    The Foil 40 in a 54 has a toptube length of 550mm
    I'd try a 52 or may be a 49

54 cm compact frames can work well for 5ft8" riders, it dpends on the rider, effective top tube length, stem lengt and rise and the reach/drop of the bar used. The last 5ft8" customers who have bought bikes both looked and felt fine on 54cm Tifosi frames.

Try it and see. If the shop is helpful they will offer to swap out the stem and make other alterations if the fit is close but not perfect.

I've got a 50cm Boardman at 5'8 and to be honest, although its quite a long top tube, its too small. I've ridden a 54 which felt very roomy. I'm either looking at a 52 or 54 for my next bike.

I'm fairly short in the leg but a bit longer in the body.
