If it is the older cartrige type it will be 68mm english thread and you will need to measure the axle length.Or remove it and check the spec printed on the old one.
If it is the later type with external cups (hollowtech 2) then again 68mm english and the axle is part of the chainset so length not relevent.
You will also need the correct tool for either type.
Check on Park tools site for more info.He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
Cheers topdude. It has the older square tapered BB,ill see if I can tighten it for now and buy myself a new chainset and Hollowtech bottom bracket in a few months or so.
Thanks

You will also need to measure the length of the axle in order to get the right one.
Square tapers last longer than external BB bearings in my experience, even when the shell has been faced and eveything fitted correctly. It may have something to do with the quality of the bearings used in exernal BB though. Token make external BB with plastic covers that do not snap wen removed and that take 7mm thick 6805 bearings that you can find in you local bearing suppliers. I have just repleced my tokn BB bearings with some SKF's for the MTB and power torque bearings with some SKF's as well (the power torque bearings lasted about 4000 miles before one was showing signs of wear). I will see how long these last. I hope longer.
If you want longevity stick with square taper.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
