Compatibility question
Firstly, I'm a mountain biker who trying to muddle a winter road bike together... Apologies for my ignorance of roadie things!
Would 9 sp Dura-Ace bar end shifters be indexed correctly for a Shimano 105 8sp rear dérailleur with 9 sp Campag cassette?
From what I've read on Sheldon's site it seems all recent Shimano components have been designed with the same cable travel but this might not work on the campag cassette? If not, will the wheels freehub body accept a Shimano cassette?
Any advice gratefully received as I don't want to waste money on shifters that I can't use.
Jim

There is some compatibility on 9 speed, but for better shifting, use a shift mate... Model 1 I thinkleft the forum March 20230

Thanks for that,
I feared as much! They seem like good pieces of kit but more than I'm willing to shell out on a winter hack. Looks like I'm in the market for a cheap used shimano compatible rear wheel and 9speed cassette...
This might help others who are as confused as me about road bike compatibility:
