edited December 2012 in Road buying advice
Hi all,

Does any one have any information or experience of Cube related new releases.

I have managed to find the model (and size) I want but now debating whether it is worth waiting for the 2013 models. From my research I have read about pre-ordering new model Cubes and it taking months for delivering etc.... Also from what I have read Cube will not release details regarding the new models until October time.

Does any one have any experience and / or advice regarding this situation.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Chris

LBS told me at the weekend that details of the new models were expected 'in the next couple of weeks' and formally released around the 10th Sept.

Their expectations are that the range will not be much different to current 2012 range in terms of price points etc.

e.g if you find what you are after in the 2012 range then the same should be available in the 2013 range (perhaps with a new lick of paint!). they also said that they dont expect much in terms of 2012 stock left over, so not much chance of discounts.....there again they would say that i guess!

    Hope this helps
  • Yes I heard the same, I am after a Peloton Cube race compact, retail £999 which I think is really good for ultegra rear set and 105's. LBS said its £900 but on the cycle to work scheme its rrp. But you do get £100 Cube voucher on the scheme so its a win win I think. Was looking at carbon frame GTC but they are all heavier than the ally frame bike for the money. Just need to get my voucher and choose pedals!!! :D:D

You certainly get more for your money with a Cube.

I don't know where you got the fact that the Al frames are lighter than than the carbon ones though (because they aren't) though you do have to pay another 3250 for the cheapest in the carbon range.

new cube 2013 road bikes are released tomorrow, although there is a delay of a month or two on the compacts I believe.

best check the website tomorrow for details.

New bikes are up on the Cube website. On first glance the Agree GTC Race has been specced down somewhat with non Ultegra FD, chainset and brakes. Looks like there is a new SLT model above the SL which is the first one to get the full group set (SL doesn't get Ultegra brakes.) The finishing kit on the GTC Race is also seemingly cheaper Easton stuff.

All in all it looks like the days of Cube supplying higher spec components than competitors at a given price point may be over. Still happy with my 2011 GTC race!

First time poster - hi all.

I picked up a 2012 GTC Agree SL at the weekend. Very pleased with it, and I think more so now they have announced the 2013 bikes. The same model no longer has dura ace front/rear derailleurs and shifters. They've also downgraded wheels, stem, bar. Adds up to an extra 0.4kg. Perhaps they are going to be reducing the price point?

At the end of the day it is all about finding a bike you enjoy and within budget, on that score I was already extremely pleased. One thing they have done with the 2013 SL is soften the colour palette of the paint. I really like the 2012 with the matte grey and fluorescent yellow (looks way better in real life) but I can see it is probably an acquire taste!
  • I picked up my new Cube Agree GTC Race on Saturday. Despite insisting that I would save it till spring and use my old aluminium Trek as my winter bike I, took it on a 32 mile test ride on Sunday. Very happy with it so far, the only problem I can forsee is that I'm not gonna want to get back on the old bike.

Yes, the spec has been downgraded slightly from 2012, but so has the price. Frame & fork, wheels and tyres are still the same as 2012 model along with the Ultegra shifters and rear mech. Chainset, front mech and brakes have been downgraded to 105 or equivalent. Its is now £1599 whereas the 2012 model was £1799 so I think its still very good value. If you want full Ultegra the 2013 GTC SL is £1899.
