just an update. I "test drove" both of these bikes and this is the first time Ive ridden a road bike.

I liked the Mekk a lot, the carbon frame looked nice but the gear set was not as good as the giant. But it felt lighters, quicker off the blocks so to speak.

I think I really liked the giant defy too. the 105's felt so much cleaner not just when changing gear but in thier look.

Readin reviews the giant defy looks like the one to get the bloke in the bike shop said if it was him, he'd get the mekk because of the carbon frame.
  • I'm pretty much in exactly the same situation with this decision.

My LBS stocks both of these models and I will test ride both but I need to wait until November for C2W.

Did you make your mind up yet?

Some other bikes I am interested in are:
Cube Peloton double - £999, alu, carbon fork, Tiagra. But there is no stock at a C2W compatible LBS.
    Cannondale Caad8 105 - £888, again very limited stock.
Focus Variado: £899 - this bike is very good looking but I am not 100% sure and have no way of testing it out.
  • I am in the same position. But it is down to:

Mek Poggio P2 or the Ribble Evo Pro Carbon Campagnolo
