SRAM/Truvativ GXP BB driveside bearing size

My GXP BB has a dead bearing on the driveside. It's almost certainly a standard size, but removing the caps shows only "Truvativ Sealed" on the seal (how useful). Weight Weenies suggests that it may be a 6805, and spending a fiver for a bearing is more palatable than £25 for a new BB. Before I do though, has anyone tried replacing the bearings in one of these BBs, and can they confirm that it is a 6805 I need?

Cheers.

Drive side of a SRAM axle is 24mm and non-drive side is 22mm. A 6805 bearing therefore doesnt sound right as those seem to be 25mm inner diameter.

I decided to ditch the SRAM GXP bottom bracket and went to a Hope bracket instead. Obviously much dearer though so I can see why you're willing to give it a go.

The cups are ali and should expand faster than the steel races of the bearings. Try heating the cups with a heat gun (or the oven if the missus is out!) - i'd not be surprised if the bearing just fell out

A standard Hollowtech bearing can be used on the driveside of the BB - it's only NDS that you need to use the narrower GXP one or a HT2 with a top-hat adaptor
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
