VN Mistral and mudguards?

Close to getting a new all round trainer, which can also take mudguards as fed up with only being able to use 23mm tyres on my Boardman with rattley Crudracers fitted! Want to run 25mm at least...

After looking at Kinesis TK, top of list seems to be a Giant Defy 1. Alternative is to build up a VN Mistral frame ( always fancied Ti) but not sure if that would be any better than my Boardman re; tyre/mudguard clearance. Given the price differential this would then also be used as a year round bike, as I'd have to lose another to fund it!

Can any owners offer their advice on this conundrum? thanks

  • The Mrs has a Mistral and I have a Euros, pretty much the same frame, we've both used RaceBlades, they rattle aswell and there aint much room to fit tyres bigger than 23mm with the guards on.
  • What about a VN Yukon?

that looks a bit more pricey than I was looking to spend, although could just be the ideal do it all bike. "pays yer money makes yer choice" I guess. now just need one to come up at sensible money on fleabay! this started as the typical "I'll get a cheap winter frame and swap the kit over" idea..... :|
