Replacing tied and soldered spokes.
I picked up a nice retro looking pair of wheels recently that have tied and soldered spokes. I noticed yesterday that I've snapped one of the spokes in the rear wheel (I think I caught it on a stand).
The wheel is still true and 30 miles on it hasn't done it any harm but I'd like to get it sorted. Question is, how much more of a PITA is it to change a spoke that's been tied and soldered? I'd like to get the spoke re-soldered to maintain the look. Is this something any decent bike shop can do or is it a dying art?
Cheers,
Rob

Dying art... No shop will do it... Only chance is to find somebody passionate about old fashion bikes or diy if ou are practical with soldering. To remove the spoke you need to undo the tied wire.left the forum March 20230

Bugger. Will it make a difference that the other spokes are tied and soldered when the wheels need truing?

No, you should be able to true it regardless. It was thought to make the wheels stiffer, but the evidence is weak... It looks cool thoughleft the forum March 20230
