handlebar bags and carbon bars

I would like to fit a small Ortlieb bar bag onto a set of carbon - matrix bars but am concerned about possible effect of the safety wire on the RK Clix Fix mount cutting into the bars :( .
Basically the mount is anchored by 2 plastic clamps, 5 mm wide each which are tightened to carry weight of bag. However to stop the mount slipping down and forwards a narrow 2mm plastic coated wire wraps around the bar and back under the (alloy) bar stem. If the plastic clamps are tightened adequately (but within bar clamp limits too) and I keep load weight in bag down, ie less than 2kg should this be OK with existing bars?

Or should I use some carbon paste under the clamps and a section old tyre under the wires to be on safe side?

Or does this idea fall into category of `never do this combination` ?

thanks :)

I got a three litre saddle bag for 6.99 on ebay, my nephew liked it so much he bought one too. May not look trendy but I can get all my spares and waterproofs in and I still have a room for food and a Tesco trip on the way home. It also stops my arse getting wet in our nice summer weather.

Obviously a commuter - no sense of humour. FFS

Snob - hardly, I have a 7 year old bike and everything I have bought for it is second hand. Except bib shorts, can't do second hand there...reminds me of recycled toilet paper. :-)
