Canyon CF SLX 8.0 - geometry & ride?

I've been mulling over buying my first carbon bike for a while and have a few likely candidates all at a similar price level. Focus Cayo, Cannondale SuperSix and Rose Carbon Pro-RS 3000 are all in the mix, as I'm looking for a slightly sportier ride than my current alu Synapse (which is being retained for winter duties, thanks to the mounts for full guards).
However my eye has been caught by the Canyon CF SLX 8.0, which is currently on offer at c. £2200. The spec is absolutely great (full Dura-Ace, Ksyrium Elites) and it looks like loads of bike for the money, though it's a bit more than I was looking to pay. Can probably find a way to make that work though
.
Before I get the tape measure out to gauge my size and compare geometry, does anyone have any experience of the CF SLX and how it rides? Appreciate that all of these bikes will be significantly more aggressive position-wise than my Synapse, but that's kind of what I'm looking for - as long as it's still comfortable (once fitted properly) on 100km+ ride.

Plenty of reviews on here on the Canyon CF just do a search.
Depends on your definition of comfort.

I have recently taken ownership of once soo I'll post my thoughts once I get it set up properly.
Only bad thing I'd say ids that my breaks weren't set-up properly and so needed adjusting ;-)London2Brighton Challange 100k!

I've ridden both the CF SLX and now own an Aeroad. I would say the CF SLX is more comfortable and it's also very stiff - but not in a harsh way. The CF SLX is probably better for longer rides but I've done two 90 mile rides on my Aeroad and I never noticed it being uncomfortable - even considering the very racey standard Selle saddle.
I do think the Aeroad looks better though. 8)0 -
Hello,
I have just last week got the. Canyon cf slx 8.0. I have been out on it a few times. A couple of rides around 50 miles or so and it does feel comfortable enough for me.
I moved from a Specialized Secteur so it is quite a bit more racy than that but I would say it is overly aggressive. I have previously ridden a Focus Izalco (from a few years ago) and that seemed even more aggressive at the front than the Canyon. I put a picture of the bike up in a previous thread so you can see the way I have it set up.
I am really happy with the bike.0 -
Thanks for all the feedback gents, good to hear that it wouldn't shake the fillings from my teeth0

Since April this year, on my Canyon SLX 8, I have done lots of training miles plus 3 * 100m sportives on the South Coast, the Dragon around the Brecon Beacons, the White Rose Classic around the Yorkshire Dales and the TdF Etape1 from Albertville. I think it is a superb bike and great value to boot. It is a joy to ride and gets me as a 49y old cycling convert up and down hills wonderfully. Cannot recommend it enough, though I am sure that others are equally as happy with their Pro Level bikes from other manufacturers.0

Assembled mine today so bear in mind this is initial impressions from two quick hacks.
So far found to be very comfy, I went with the size recommended by the website and verified it with a bike fitter. Bike seems pretty comfy, I'm putting less pressure on my hands than my spesh. Seems to smooth over bumps in the road well. Rides nicely, absolutely planted on descents and the low weight means the bike climbs really well. The dura-ace kit, especially brakes, is nice as well.
For the current price of the bike I think it's a steal, can't recommend highly enough. You're getting a 2011 tdf stage winning frame with dura ace and fairly good wheels.0
