Cassette Buying Advice

Just looking to upgrade my groupset and wondering which cassette to go for?
If i have a 39/53 10 speed chainset would an 11/28 cassette give a greater range than say a 12/23 cassette?
Is getting the biggest range of gears as simple as having the biggest difference in size between the smallest and largest rings on the cassette?
Thanks

12-25.
The wider (range) will cause bigger jumps in between changing gears. You want them as close as possible really. 12-25 is the standard.0 -
agree.
if you feel yo need a 28 gear, then the real answer is to buy a 12-28 and an 11-25 and swap them over depending on your riding terrainhttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png
