Im looking to pick up some replica oakley to try for fit a couple of pairs before i buy the real ones.

I struggle to find glasses that fit well once i have my helmet on. plus you don't really know the real comfort until you go for a proper ride.

Thanks in advance.

Jokeleys are rubbish. Bring your helmet to a shop and try the real thing.

"Replica", that's a very polite way of saying counterfeit or fake is it?

Not sure that's the best use of fakes, you can't guarantee the dimensions/fit is the same even if they look identical.
  • It did get me thinking after I posted that.

I recall Condor having a good selection, I trip to there should be worthwhile.

Speaking of which does anyone know if the fake Oakleys have the Oakley name etched or is that just the originals? Not sure if the ones are bought are fake? But Oakley name is etched not printed

    cheers

Mine have the name on the lens etched in. Same with the polarized ones. Search replaceable lens sunglasses on eBay and find seller shiningstar201102

OP - the fake Oakleys I've seen don't even look much like real ones. I don't think you could reliably use them to get an idea of fit.

As others have said head to a decent bike shop (or outdoor shop, Snow and Rock near me have a great range) and try some on.

I've spent a long time looking at my fake ones and genuine frames, I really cannot tell any difference apart from a slight difference in weight, to look at they are the same. Fakes come with lots of different lenses, a polishing cloth (Oakley don't give those).

This is such an utterly ridiculous thread.

FFS just buy the real thing, fakes (sorry "Replicas") will likely leave you with sore retinas, and a feeling that you just dont have the real thing.

For me one of the issues with Oakleys is that there are so many fakes I wouldn't buy a pair for fear of getting ripped off and mates assuming they were fakes. Anyone selling 2nd hand on here must struggle because there as so many fakes.
  • Has anyone used sunglass-world.co.uk?.Seem to have some competitive prices.

Have tried a few pairs on for fit when i was in condor last, they have an impressive selection all be it over priced.

I use the fake Oakleys in the winter and i have a few pairs of legit Oakleys too, if you get the right seller there's squat difference in the frames, but forget the lenses.

There's a post on here somewhere with the eBay seller named.

Bought quite a few times from them. Twice bought glasses and made big savings.

Got some Fuel Cell polarized from the yesterday for £90 which is a bargain.

Next day delivery, prices are excellent and backed up with a proper warranty.

quick tip for jawbones the real oakleys have an O on the bottom corner of the jaws on the inside - the fakes do not - otherwise they are pretty good copies

Chinese oakleys from shiningstar are great. 15 quid, nice. :D
  • surely the point of glasses is to protect your eyes? Why risk it with fakes?

Buy the fakes and then buy genuine Oakley lenses. Is what I'm going to try.

Excellent - thanks Gazza. I keep looking in the Oakley store at the designer outlet village near me. I'll have to compare prices next time i'm there
