New wheels - fulcrum 5s?

Hi all,
I've currently been struggling along on a pair of generic wheels that came with my specialized allez elite 2008. They've taken a bit of a pound, but are still trueish. I'm planning on doing a bit more cycling, and thought this was probably the best place to start upgrading.
I mainly commute (15 miles each way) a do a few longer rides. Was planning on getting some fulcrum 5s. Does this sound like a good idea or am I just replacing wheels for wheels?
I found them pretty cheap on a German site who appear to deliver abroad:
http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/a15983 ... html?lg=en
works out at about £135 incl delivery for the pair.
Worth the upgrade?

Yes worth upgrading, assuming your stock wheels are just basic generics, i would check first.
Also Shimano RS20's or RS30's are a decent wheel for that price bracket. Will do commutes really well and are well made and strong.
obviously, the more you spend the more wheel you get, but if you dont want to spend too much then i would go with the Fulcrums or the Shimanos, always comes down to price.0 -
I don't know about the standard wheels on your Elite, but you cannot go far wrong with the Fulcrum 5's. I've not seen a bad word written about them, and having owned Fulcrum 7's and Zero's, I've found them to be really well made and reliable, not to mention pretty good looking. That's a good price you've spotted, and many on this forum seem to have used bike-discount successfully.0

i think the standard wheels are jalco rims, which I've never heard of. They seem to be quite heavy too!0

In that case then yes, the Fulcrums would be a much better wheel, so go for it. Also, when you do make sure you buy some decent rubber to go on them! do them justice!0 -
