Hi everyone... I'm normally a MTB'er but of late I have been seriously tempted to get a road bike and start putting in long distance miles to keep fit. I've had a shot of my friends bikes which got me in to using the road bike as I was amazed at how fast it would accelerate compared to a MTB with 2.5" tyres!! :P

The thing is it was a 58cm framed bike and I am 6'4" which means it was a little bit on the small side so wouldn't want to put in too many miles on it as it did feel cramped...

I have a budget of about £300 and have been reading up on some of the bikes to get, one of them being the Triban 3 http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-id_8167038.html and I'm sorely tempted to get it...

My question is that should I go for the 60cm or the 63cm frame? Sadly, there is no Decathalon stores near my house, the closest being in Glasgow, which is 300 miles away! :O
I have been recommended to go for 61cm, so is it best going for the 60cm frame, or would it be better having the 63cm frame and being an Inch bigger? Is there any pro's to going bigger? or would it be best going for the 60cm frame size and then just raising the saddle that little bit higher?

My MTB's are a 21" hardtail and a Large (19") Full Sus.... The Hardtail is best for XC because it's bigger and more comfortable to ride on long distances, but the Full Sus is more used for trail riding as it's slightly smaller so can be flung about easier, but what is best for Road Bikes?

Hence I ask the experts :)

Thanks in advance!
It's been a while...

With a 300 quid budget you're far better getting a used bike from ebay or gumtree, you'll get a lot more for your money. Many folk buy a road bike with good intentions then barely use it, loads of bargains around.
