Has anyone else tried this Finish Line Krytech wax lubricant???

I start with a clean chain, wipe down with a GT85 dampened rag, then add this wax lubricant.

At first it seems ok for a summer dry lube, but then after about 30-40 miles the chain starts creaking and squeeking like you are being followed by angry mice!

I now have to basically "lube " the chain after every ride, as if i leave it for a couple of rides the noise is more than annoying.

The good news is that it is fairly clean, but the squeeeking chain may imply wear.

Interested if anyone else has used it with better results?

Cheers.

I had the same experience. Lots of squeeking once the lube dried out and turned into a wax. I went back to using the Finish Line Dry Lube.

I don't think it means you are causing damage just that the wax has got too dry. Although I think that the theory is that it dries out and then falls off so maybe applying each ride as you are is a good idea. Just means you will use it quickly though.

I was not impressed with the krytech wax, but their ceramic wax is very good stuff and perfect for conditions like we have at the mo. It's pretty durable and definitely helps with a smooth quiet drive train. Just don't use it in the rain though - it's useless!

It's worth also noting that you would need your chain to be completely dry and clear of the GT40 before you put the wax lube on, otherwise it's not going to get into the rollers properly and will shed very easily. GT40 is ok as a general cleaner and lube, but not great on a chain. Perhaps if you wash with a soapy sponge after the GT40 then dry thoroughly overnight before adding the wax layer, you might have more joy.

Tks for your thoughts guys, it probably makes sense to remove any trace of Gt85......Stupidly I bought 3 x 4oz bottles of this stuff on offer, I assumed being Finish Line it would be good.
Ceramic or back to dry lube next!
    Cheers.

GT85 comes into its own for blasting the black gunk out of your cassette, so not a wasted investment!
