Bar change. Is this nuts?

The plan is to mount brakes like these on the obove style of bar. I am unsure as to if it will work, or how well.

will work fine, shifting might be a little awquard though due to the engle created but thats your call really0

It will be possible, but will look sh!t and will be awkward to shift and brake.More problems but still living....0

looking sh1t is a bit of a worry. I am being tight, i want to convert drops to flat, but dont want to waste the parts. Currently have sora STI levers on it, so want to reuse, also have so far only found brake levers and separate gear shifters, so this would push the cost up.Bike one Dawes Acoma (heavily modified)

Those bars without shifters or with bar end shifters would give the the same position as the hoods position with drops so it's not like changing to flat bars at all. With STIs as well then it'd give you a really weird position. What's the problem with drops?More problems but still living....0

I wouldn't be keen on this at all0

i get back ache in the dros, so i generally ride on the hoods or on top, but have to use drops to change gear ect (sti fitted to bike already) thought about doing conversion to a flat bar. I wanted to try and recycle the sora STi set i already have, hence the question.
May have too rethink...!Bike one Dawes Acoma (heavily modified)

Why can't you change gear from the hoods?0

This. Sounds strange you can't shift from the hoods. What is your setup like at the moment? Photos?Ben

Would tiagra shifters allow you to change gear without using the drops? is it because of the thumb shifter location? If so check if tiagra shifters work with sora and get some second hand ones of ebay.
Your saddle to bar drop may be too extreme hence the back ache, a different stem may help and / or saddle may be too high. A bike fit alone might solve your problems.0 -
Most complain that the thumb shifter is difficult to use from the drops. If your bike is set up right then you should be able to change gear and brake from both positions easily. Perhaps shallower drop bars are the answer. I have certainly found it much easier after changing to Bontrager VR bars instead of so called ergonomic ones.0

I've got sora shifters on my bike currently and only ever ride on hoods, unless i'm going down hill I'll get on the drops. Never had a problem with shifting and braking, even with the silly thumb shifters! Although thankfully I've got a full ultegra groupset to replace the silly thumb shifters soon!
Post some pictures of your bike so we can see the setup?0
