Buying a bearing press
OK so I see that generally the two main ones on offer are from park tools
the HHP2 - cost about £125
Or the cheaper but more basic HHP3
So is the extra spend (and it is a lot). Worth it - will I get more long term use with the HHP2?
Is there a better alternative?

Get it done in the shop?
I think you'd have to be doing a lot of headsets to make it worth buying a tool.0 -
I have the cheaper 1
because i'm not made of money, and once you have 1 you realise how little you use it similar story to my park tools wheel jig (which I got at half price...)
not sure the pro version can do press fit bearings (like spanish bb's) but the cheap 1 can
the main thing is to put the races in 1 at a time to they are nice and straight, and like most things...
Buy cheap buy twice.....0 -

The reason why I want to get one is mostly so that I make a concious effort to keep my BB30 bearing clean and well greased on a regular basis. It would be a £20 job at the LBS (vs £60 to buy the cheaper tool)- but something I can to quite quickly myself and also I quite enjoy spending time fettling away. I think it would be a tool that pays for itself after a few years.0 -

One thing is for sure - these tools are very overpriced for what they are!0 -
This one is only £35. I'm thinking about getting the BB86 version for myself.

The Cyclus headset press is decent quality and far better than the lower Park one, which is frankly, rubbish - if you want that quality, buy a length of studding, some nuts and washers for a few quid.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

i used a Car brake caliper piston tool to press my bearings in high quality and much cheaper. especially if you have one lying around in the garage!Crafted in Italy apparantly0

Got to say both the Superstar and the cyclus - look like much better value pieces of kit!
Thanks for those links0
