Shimano RS-80

Bought a pair of RS-80's from Ribble in April. Whilst on the club run yesterday a spoke broke in the front wheel causing a rather big buckle in it. Took it down to the local bike shop and they said they could get it better but not perfect. What would you guys do? Send it back to Ribble and deal with them? Get a second opinion from another wheel builder, or take my chances with the original bike shop?

Thanks

Very difficult to get spares for factory wheels. Try contact ribble. Be prepared for a three weeks ordeal

  • Contact Ribble I would expect them to replace it or rebuild to perfect under Shimano warranty as it less than a year old - if they don't say yes immediately I would contact Shimano direct and if need be (I doubt you will have to though) raise a Small Claims Case to get money back or a replacement.

I would expect no problems though Ribble should send it to Shimano for inspection and if there's no sign of anything other than a simple spoke failure should be straightforward warranty job.

I'm glad the issue of a broken spoke has been resolved in "just" two weeks... 8)
