3T Seat post fitting issues with Giant Defy?

I have tried to fit two 3T seat posts to my daughters Giant Defy, the first one I wasnt too bother that it didnt fit as the colour didnt match but the 2nd one is perfect but still doesnt fit?? I thought maybe as the first one was carbon there may be a slight difference but the 2nd is not and still wont fit? Are Giant defy's a different size from standard? or am I going to have to force it in?
Any one with experience of this?

Standard! do you have any idea how many different diameter seat posts there are?

what size have you got?

seems you need a 30.9mm from a quick google.

what did it say on the old one?

AH! I thought there were only 2? 27.2 and 31.6? Obviously I'm very much wrong..... The one I bought was 31.6 it looks exactly the same size as the one thats come out when offered up but now I sense a google search on sizes...

Can you not just return it for the right size?
