Looking to change the stock Specialized bars on my Stumpy and go for something a bit longer. This is the first time i've never bought a set so want some strong bars over 700mm wide for some aggresive trail riding. Budget of around 50 quid.
Any good uns about for that money?
P.S They've got to be black

I'm a bit apprehensive around carbon products. Seems like a high cost for something I'd panic about every time I smack my bike in a off.0
-
Not everything on there is carbon, check out the Scandium. I'm considering a set of them.0
-
Sorry. Just found them. How does Scandium bear up strength wise?0

Raceface Atlas & Renthal Fatbar are both very nice shape & quality and very strong.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Just put an Alu Easton Haven on mine;

Good, strong and light bar and the perfect length IMHO
And looks excellent in the mag finish too 8)"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

This is the bar to have, mine have taken loads of big offs and are still unbent (god knows how)0 -
For something different, check out FSA Gravity Lights new range http://ridegravity.com/product-group/at-signature/ Available in boring black, chrome or Andrew Taylor's signature range.

Some good suggestions there. Thanks guys. I'll check these out and let you know which I order0

Scandium is the toughest alu alloy used on bikes. The Exotic Scandium HR is the one to get.0

The FSA Gravity light bars aren't all that strong. I bent mine just clipping a tree, hard enough to make me wobble a bit but not hit me off.
The Scandium HR may be good value & a good bar but ugly as shit.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Good looking bars are obviously stronger...0

Got a set of these Nukeproof suckers really good bars, my choice for a slightly cheaper set up than the renthel0 -
+1 for the NukeproofsWhen you go to the ground you are in my world. My world is the ocean. I am the shark and most people don't know how to swim0

Take a look at Kore bars. I'm a big fan of them, super cheap compared to other options, come in nice shiny colours or black, silver or white and seem to be really strong. I've got some Torsions on the Rocky atm and am just waiting for the OCD's for my Marin. The Torsions are really stiff in comparison with some other bars I've had which is a good thing IMO. Decals are a bit crap but no worse than those on some bars costing twice as much.0

Carbon Easton Havocs + a £50 off your next order from CRC
But you may have to wait until Christmas and have spend £100 on the last order to get it . Still, you might find a deal somewhere.
That's how I did mine though (or something similar, already had the Havocs on the AM bike, got Carbon Monkey lite on the hard tail for £50 this way).
Anyway, carbon Havocs are one of the toughest about.0 -
I have some nukeproof flat bars, got them second hand on the cheap and they've been great.
Superstar have some wide riser bars (780mm) for £35 that I'm tempted to get to bring my front end up a bit. They're supposed to be really good, and you can cut them down.
I also have some funn fatbars that i got off CRC about a year ago for around £15 and they've been great as well. To be honest, bars are bars. As long as they're the right measurements, they're fine. You'll very rarely bend/snap them, and if you do, it's usually a case of over-tightened stem bolts. Doubtless those renthal etc bars are good, but I'd never pay that much for a set of bars...0
