1" Carbon forks

While I am deciding on which new bike and waiting for funding to come I have decided to do a little work on what is going to be the winter hack. Currently Raleigh Chromo frame & forks, shimano sora and wheels of unknown make/origin.
I am tempted to change the front fork to carbon but it is currently a 1" steerer with quill stem. Is it going to be possible to either find one that will work with this? or can I get a new stem and bars and will this involve a new headset too?
Also considering replacing the wheels with RS10/20/30s as these will most likely be as good as or better than the new bikes anyway (always good to have a spare set )
I know the usual reply will be dont bother just sell it but that isn't going to happen (there are reasons) and i'm looking to keep it reasonably cheap as although i'll never sell the bike I just want to bring it a little more up to date and shed a few pounds at the same time.

I looked at carbon forks for the Dynamo frame I have, which is also a 1" steerer. Wiggle do one: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tifosi-carbon-road-bike-forks-1-inch/ and I also looked at Kinetic forks on eBay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Kinetic-One-Bikes?_trksid=p4340.l2563. As far as I can tell through, they are all thread less steelers, so you'd need to swap your headset and stem.

thought that might be the case so probably not a feasible option. would be quite a dent to the new bike fund by the time i have forks, stem, bars and new headset which could be better spent elsewhere.
guess i'll stick with replacing the wheels for now0 -
You can use 1 inch forks and 1 1/8 stem by using a alloy adapter of course.0

I have seen the adaptors but I currently use a 1" quill stem so it looks like too expensive an option when the money could be used elsewhere.
Think I started something last night, browsing ebay for parts (forks, stems, bars) and started thinking that building a whole bike instead of buying brand new could be an option :oops:0 -
eBay's a dangerous place when you start thinking like that...
But I had the same thoughts - £100 - £150 for some not particularly light carbon forks for a frame that was on the large size and needed some work also, or £350 ish for a Chinese carbon frame & fork...
Needless to say, the FM029 should be delivered Monday.
