Better take some spare brake pads with me to the Alps, * does a little dance *

Lots of choice, what are people happy with? looking to keep it under a tenner for a pair.

How good a state are your current pads?
Personally, if I was needing pads for Alpine descents, I wouldn't go cheap.
I've spent 2 weeks in the Alps and had 4 days in the pyrenees last year doing a couple of big cols on each ride and my Campag or SwissStop pads were fine.

Obviously depends on how much you're on the brakes but on long descents I wouldn't be on mine unnecessaryily as I didn't want to be heating up my rims.

Oh....lucky you as well. What cols have you got planned?

Current pads are probably half worn down so I want a set in case they wear out while I'm there. Currently using the ones that came with my shimano 105 5600 brakes which to be honest are pretty good IMO, I can lock the wheels up pretty easily so can't imagine needed more braking power.

First trip to the alps so hoping to get the famous cols in, D'huez, galibier, croix de fer and whatever else we can fit in.

Just seen that swiss stops are supplied in 4s which makes them more affordable. Think I'll give them a try.

Edit: Black green or yellow WTF?

I've got the Green Pro ones for my alu rims.
There are bike shops in Bourg d'Oisans if you needed to buy while you're out there.
Otherwise I'd get the new pads on now to wear them in a bit.
Apart from the Alpe, there are nicer runs up to the likes of Vaujany on the way to the Glandon from Bourg.
Don't forget the Col de Sarenne which joins the Alpe halfway up via a narrow road with long drop! :D
