A dilemma.. Bike

Hi all,

Having been spending a while looking at wheels for my current bike I have decided that I will keep at as it is, but invest in a new bike, which I can use for the nice days and events(sportive, race, triathlon, Sunny day training and keep my current one for wet winter weather and commuter.

I have been looking around the web and have come up with a short list but really can't decide which is the better buy.

Here have been my options:

Orbea Orca S105 Limited Edition
http://www.northhantsbikes.co.uk/Orbea_ ... e_2012.htm

Orbea Orca B105 with vision rims
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORBEA-2012-OR ... _789wt_922

Moda Stretto
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MODA-STRETTO- ... 2692wt_922

Felt AR4
http://www.northhantsbikes.co.uk/Felt_F ... g_Bike.htm

Cannondale Supersix
http://www.epic-cycles.co.uk/Cannondale_SuperSix.html

Any owners or people that have ridden the above, what do you think? Or any models I have massively over looked?

Many thanks in advance
Rich

Did you consider the Cube range?

For a few hundred quid less you could get a Cube Agree GTC Race, or for a bit more the Di2 version.

Compare the spec of your Orca (which is poorly specced out at the price) with this Orca

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orbea-Orca-BL ... 3cc7d339ad

I know where my money might be heading if an Orca was my choice and the eBay version was the correct size.

    That's a very goo price!!!
I was told the special edition Orca was a great buy, as it's the silver carbon frame. Would I notice a big difference?

I think that you can probably answer that question yourself! But an Orca with Ultegra Di2 for that money looks good value to me - even with the ordinary wheelset (which look to be Aksiums)

I don't like having all the choice haha!
I don't think I would be able to notice a difference in the 2 different Orca's limited edition or not. But I haven't offend either so i don't know?

The Moda is a great looking bike if you ask me and has very good spec groupo and wheels.

I have just got back from my local shop and they were offering

    Giant TCR Advanced SL frame
    Scram rival group set
    Aksium wheels
    £2500

Is this a good buy? I certanly liked the look of the frame.
What are the differences between the TCR advanced SL and TCR Advanced frame, any ideas?
  • I've just gone Boardman with the Pro Carbon.

    Same frame as elite 9.0
    Full Ultegra
    Ksyrium Equipe

Didn't trust Halfords to set it up but they're quite happy to give it to you in the box that it's delivered to them in and they're pretty much together so you only actually need a set of allen keys and youtube to DIY.

At £1600, ordered online, it's an absolute bargain and you've got to ask whether that Giant frame is £900 + a lower spec wheel better.

Nice bike that the TCR Advanced is, given the price of SRAM Rival (<£500) and Aksiums (£160ish) that's one hell of a price to pay for any bike with those components IMO (irrespective of the frame). £2K secondhand sends you into the stratosphere super-bike territory if you are confident enough to buy used. My best bike - Madone 6.9 Pro with Sram Red and Mavic R-Sys Premium wheels cost me much less than £2K to put together - compare the component and wheel spec (and the bike looks like new still!) It's a question of balancing out the cost of warranty issues offering supposed peace of mind.

Orca with Di2 still looks good value to me

I was impressed with the Giant, I would get a bike fitting with it as well.
Just got to decide what I want to do

I don't have an Orbea myself at the moment (have had an Orca in the past), ...but there will be somebody around who could no doubt tell a similar tale for Trek, Spesh, Giant et al. Given the sales numbers, one example is obviously statistically insignifiant and thus does not make it a bike to avoid (although everybody is entitled to an opinion of course).

The Advanced SL is their top of the range frame. I'd go for it; giants are superb bikes and all you need us a new wheel set in the near future.
  • £2,500 and "all you need is a new wheelset in the near future"

You, my friend, are completely bonkers!!!!!

I was going to say, that's a lot to pay out then have to upgrade again.

I feel that perhaps I should go for a giant but not SL, so it comes with better components, not sure I would notice a difference from sl and non sl

Having now just seen a supersix, in the green and black I really liked the look of it. I all so saw A trek madone 5.2

So group sets and wheels as side, how does the giant TCR advance SL/TCR advance/cannondale supersix / madone 5 series frames compare to each other?

I have found the 105 in store for £1499, £500 off list price.
Compared to the others this makes great value I believe.
