Replacing chainrings vs. entire crankset

My crankset is so cheap that it makes more sense for me to replace the whole thing when the chainrings are worn, than to buy new chainrings. Does anyone else have the same 'problem' and what do you do with the old cranksets that you no longer need?

I keep them in the Big Box of Spares - handy for winter bike builds/turbo trainer bike bulds/giving to mates who are stuck and need one/throwing at next door's garden.

Yes you must keep it, it's against the law to throw old bike bits out.
I am building a nice collection of the ends of chains which are left over from being cut down to size. I have it in my head that eventually I'll have enough for a complete chain - buy 20 get one free :D

It's very wasteful to throw a perfectly good pair of cranks away
