raise the mech a bit, maybe add a link on the chain too.

I've just gone the other way. You'll need to reposition the front derailleur, maybe a longer cable. You'll also need a new chain as it needs to be 2 or 3 links longer typically

You might want to swap cassettes too.

53 to 50 = 3 teeth which is 1.5 links. I swap between 52/38 and 50/34 rings on my 110 BCD cranks with no need to move anything else. Just make sure the chain is as long as possible with the 50/34.

We're never happy with our chainsets are we ? Those with double want triple, those with triple want double, 50/39ers want compact and compacts want 50/39 (or 52/39).
I'm just as guilty having gone double, triple, double, triple in less than a year. AND I keep accidentally dropping into the granny ring so was thinking of going double again. Might just dial out the granny ring with judicious low limit and cable tension adjustment.

So if im ony changing to a 52 i shouldnt have to adjust anything?

You will have to lift the front mech to suit the 52 and check that the chain is long enough. Otherwise no. If you put the 50 back anytime the mech will work fine left alone. Minor adjustment to the limit stops and cable tension may be needed depending on the chainsets.

Why not just get 39 and 52 tooth chainrings in 110 bcd and fit those?
Still need to check the height of the derailleur and chain length, though
