crown race

I purchased a 2nd hand frame and a new fork. Frame came with an integrated headset. However, it didn't come with the crown race.

The headset is a cane creek, so does this mean I need to find the matching crown race or will any crown race do the job?

Thanks

    Matching. Or a new headset.

But as long as the angle on the crown race is the same it will work but clearance may not be quite right.

I have a cane creek IS3, any ideas where I can get a crown race specifically for that?

    Thanks

I have just looked at my old allez sport, and it too has a cane creek headset. i put that fork into my new frame, and the crown race seems to fit. there is about a 2mm gap between the fork at the frame? does that sound right?

Now, can the LBS remove the old crown race or is that a mission?

    Thanks
