Hi Guys,

I'm currently putting together a cyclocross bike for the first time and have been pondering what drivetrain to use. These musing have brought me to this point, is it feasible to match a 10 speed XT rear mech and cassette to 105 STi shifters using a Mavic Aksium Race rear wheel? I intend to use an FSA Gossamer CX crankset and CX70 front mech.

Any help or advice much appreciated (even if it's don't talk b*^^*cks)

Cheers

Its my belief that all shimano stuff is cross compatible, ie all ten speed will work together, all 9 speed etc.

Someone else may know different tho. I take it your after fitting a granny ring to a cx bike then??

You need to use a 9 speed MTB cassette with the road levers and 10 speed cassette. Yes it sounds wrong but it is correct. The 10 speed MTB rear mech will only work with 10 speed MTB shifters.
