6700/5700 front mech w 6600 shifters

I need a new front mech, old one split in half

Shimano's blurb on the 6700 and 5700
For use with 105 ST-5700 or Ultegra ST-6700 shifters only for optimum shifting performance

Have they actually changed the pull-ratio of front mechs for 6700 and 5700 then, so they won't work with 6600 & 5600 shifters ?

Or will it work perfectly well with 6600 shifters, just not what Shimano would call 'optimum' ?

I see it as only a double mech, so basically has on-the- left/on-the-right options...

    Shimano being Shimano....mix and match as much as you like ....I've used exactly that combination and its fine !
    double and triple will work but not spot on...got iritating after a while ! :evil:
