I know this is an essential piece of kit every rider must have, I currently have a cheap Lidl Gilet at the moment and wanting to upgrade to something better for everyday use….. Can anyone recommend me a good Gilet.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I was the same as you, in having a cheapo Lidl gilet. I found I was using it a lot of the time.
I decided I'd get another a couple of months back and ended up with this Louis Garneau from Evans in black.

I'm really very pleased. The quality seems good, fit is just right, well ventilated. Good size rear pockets.... and a decent price.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

The Mavic Helium is very lightweight and has a good cut - and 50% off at Evans; http://www.evanscycles.com/products/mav ... 0#features
Minimalist though, no rear pockets etc.0 -
Do I need to be looking for a gilet which is both Windproof & Waterproof or just go for something which is Windproof?0

windproof is the prime objective I reckon. Given that a gilet is for cooler starts and changeable weather, rather than proper rain storms anyway, go for a good windstopper. They have no arms and tend to have mesh panels on the back or sides, so if it seriously nails it down being waterproof isn't going to save you!0

There's loads on eBay. As I don't know your budget, I've sorted most expensive at the top.

Budget I guess in between £30 - £60.
Hopefully I can get a good one for that price.0 -

Craft light gilet, brillant at keeping the wind off without being too hot and its very packable into it's own pocket0
