Hi All,
My mate is after some SRAM Cranks for his standard Bianchi 928 Bottom Bracket.
I've seen some in the Classifieds, but the are advertised as BB30, do I need an adapter to fit them to a normal Italian BB or are they incompatible?
This is the Advert

You need a negative shim to downsize the crank axle to fit the BB shell.CAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0

Many Thanks, are the negative shims easy to get hold of and expensive?0 -
The only "adaptors" I've seen to use a BB30 crank in an English BB are made by Rotor, but whether they are specific for the Rotor cranks or not I don't know.

I'd recommend just waiting it out until a suitable non-BB30 crankset becomes available!0

The Rotor converter won't fit an italian thread BB, it is BSA only!Colnago Addict!0

FWIW you can't fit a BB30 crank to a regular threaded BB shell as there's nowhere for the bearings to go. The info on the Rotor BB is incorrect, whilst Rotor cranks use a 30mm spindle, they are longer and use an outboard bearing BB arrangement, not an inboard bearing like BB30. A BB30 crank spindle is 68mm long whereas the Rotor BSA30 is something like 90mm to give enough room for the bearings.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks Monty, I'll advise my Mate0 -
Right now you can get a Sram Rival Alloy Chainset & GXP Bottom Bracket for £76 from Merlin.
I'd have thought this is as good an option as any for your mate.
Just to add that as I understand it, the Bianchi has English bottom bracket threads.

Thanks for the info, he currently has a carbon double and wants a carbon compact for the Italian hills.0 -

Many6 Thanks for that, but with the £45 + the purchase price it makes them unrealistic, but much appreciate your help.0
