105 triple upgrading to Ultegra compact

Hi all!

Just after a little advice. I'm looking at upgrading my 105 triple groupset to a Ultegra compact. I can't afford to upgrade it all in one go so I was looking at upgrading bit by bit. Any advice what I should look to upgrade first and what needs to be upgraded simultaneously? Also what's compatible? Been riding for a while but new to the mechanical side of things but I'm trying!

    What's wrong with 105 that needs 'upgrading' ?

    If you want to change from triple to compact, you could simply change the crankset, adjust the front mech to limit your triple shifter to only changing 2 rings

    But spending 5 or 6 hundred quid on changing 105 to Ultegra - not worth it

    Cheers Andy. Sounds good advice. Had no grief with the 105 so will have a look into it. Seeing as you may have saved me a few hundred quid I'll buy you a couple of beers if you're ever up Nottingham way!
