bin... that edge will become increasingly iffy in the wet and the worn surface increasingly prone to the PF.Invacare Spectra Plus electric wheelchair, max speed 4mph0

I'd say no, not necessarily - not if the squared off tyre is just on the rear but obviously it depends on how squared off it is. And if the worn surface becomes more prone to puncturing, that is almost entirely down to laziness on the part of the rider! Worn rubber doesn't have an impact on the puncture guard. Not removing existing debris from the tyre does. My tyres never show any increase in puncture rate with miles and I do scrape every last mile I can out of them!Faster than a tent.......0 -
well they have seen 1500 + so far with no visits, so could be pushing my luck, its both the front and rear, only really noticed the squareness yesterday when looking, as stated i do have some used conti ultra races, that have a good 1000 miles plus on them, so will probably swap to them, and then look at these michelin pro 4s, as they seem quite nice and it might get rid of the adverts for them when i visit this siteSorry its not me it's the bike ;o)

My Gatorskins are heavily worn and don't have much rubber left of them. I have noticed a reduction in grip levels, but the number of visits I get is the same. The rubber doesn't do much to protect you from visits from the fairy, its the puncture protection layers of the tyre, beneath the grippy rubber layer, which does that.
Continental's website wrote:You'll know when one of our tyres features Duraskin. The dark brown fabric is applied externally to the tyre casing priot to the addition of the tread in the manufacturing process. This means that Duraskin is teh first line of defence against intrusion, increasing the chances of sidewall survival significantly in the event of hitting a foreign object..
Their proof reader needs to pull his socks up, but I hope the engineers are left alone to keep doing their thing as I think they are doing a good job.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

I've had 'squared-off' tyres on my bike in the past and cornering was interesting to say the least.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

The 'cross hatching' on the side of my rear gatorskin is coming away......I guess that means I will need a new tyre soon!0

It depends, I changed my first road tyres at the first sign of squaring, because I really wanted to use some better ones. The last time I changed my rear tyre... Well, see for yourself:
I hadn't noticed any problems at all, in fact I'd gone to change the front tyre when I noticed the state of the back. :oops:0 -

That would be the Duraskin, which is the "first line of defence against intrusion".
I think I would blame Wiggle for not sending you a new tyre automatically.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

they are very good fast rolling tyres, but can get cut up pretty quick, mine only lasted around a month a half thanks to last months bad weather and mileage :shock:Sorry its not me it's the bike ;o)
