Hi guys - taking a bike on a plane in a box! This is how I've packed it up, any further suggestions on protection from those who have experience with bikes on planes. I've got lots of bubble wrap to cram in the box as well! Thanks :)

Do you mean a cardboard box ? - i would take the rear mech off and tie it to the frame - leave the cable as it is and wrap in bubble - and if you have time buy a rear mech hanger.
  • Thanks - ill take it off, and yes, a cardboard box! Poor student i'm afraid!

That looks almost exactly like I took my last 2 bikes out of the manufacturers box...

Tape whatever tools you need to rebuild it to the frame - that way tools and bike are in the same place to avoid the lost bag with tools/bike in bits scenario.

As well as detaching the rear mech, also put some pipelagging around the tops of the STIs as they are vulnerable to impact damage
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
