Attaching TriBars without damage

This may sound a little wet, but does anyone have suggestions, based on success, for attaching clip on tri bars to handlbars without ruining the logos on the handlebars?!* I've tried wrapping the bars with fabric and rubber from a cut old tube before, but the bars then moved over time during events. *I have some nice new 3T bars and don't want to ruin the look just for the odd traithlon...

Unfortunately I think it's pretty much unavoidable, although keeping everything clean and paying close attention to even tightening of bolts will reduce the damage you do.

    Heli tape around the handlebars?
"Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

Is it really a problem if they move a bit ? If you are worried about keeping your logos intact you could accept a small amount of play, you could even do in-flight adjustments during the race.

I did a 3up TT recently in which one of my team mates had an aero bar come loose. It jammed in his front wheel and launched him over the bars.

A lot of people pull up on their aero bars quite hard when putting power down. I wouldn't risk it.

Wrap insulting tape under the clamps - its sticky enough to stay in place but not stcky enough to take off the logos. I use this when fitting front light claps on in the winter and back light on the seat post.
  • I tend to pull up on bars on certain inclines, and have ended triathlons with the bars looking more like the hands on a late morning clock - guess it might say something about my puny leg power that I feel compelled to employ my upper body that much. Still, I'll try taping. If it does work you will have my thanks - there's nothing wrong with a bit of bike vanity!

And you'll have the added benefit of hearing the tape shouting at you - "PEDAL HARDER, YOU JESSIE! ARE YOU A MAN OR A MOUSE?! YOU'RE USELESS, FATTY!!!"
