I have a tiagra cassette 105 rear mech and kmc chain, works great. Read on the forum its a good idea to alternate chains.I have a hardly used 105 chain.Would there be any problems fitting a quick link on this chain and running it on the tiagra cassette. cheers

As long as they are both the same 'speed' chains then it will be fine.

Cheers jomoj, ye they are both 10 speed. I did look on the shimano compatibily chart, but the one i pulled up still had the tiagra down as 9 speed so was not sure. Many thanks.

Not sure of the logic there, bit like my mate who insists on swapping his f/r tyres every now and then to save wear when really all it does is mean you get to replace both at the same time. It is a good idea to change your chain at 0.75 so either invest in a decent checker or a nice steel rule. Cassettes need changing every few chains, although I really only do them when I notice a problem.

Bobbinogs, sure i read someone writing on the forum alternating the chain every 500 miles or so to limit chainring and cassette wear. As you can probably tell from my post its all new to me and im open to any suggestions. Have read many of your posts and if you recon its not worth the trouble thats good enough for me.
