Help - Ultegra

Hi all,
I have a nanolight planet X bike with Ultegra groupset. Problem is that the gears are now making an awful noise and are slipping out of gear. Its had a new chain and cassette but still making noises and frustratingly slipping.
I have had it serviced and gears re-aligned with new cables but it happened again today after about an hour and the gears slipped again both front and back. Also today after about 3 full pedals it jumped a bit.
Anybody got any ideas what I should start replacing ? The guy who serviced it said he would start with replacing the mech....
Any thoughts ?

Don't start replacing anything yet. Sounds like you've had new cables fitted and now they have stretched slightly. The limit screws should be fine on the front and back if you've just had them serviced so don't mess with those. If you can hang your bike somehow you can check your rear derailleur while turning the pedals. If it's struggling to shift up or it's skipping down a gear then turn the cable adjustment bolt anti-clockwise until it shifts up. Alternatively if it's struggling to to shift down then turn the bolt clockwise. Check this out, sounds like what you need. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr2LTP5Y ... el&list=UL0

+1 to Garethjohn.
Check cable tension. Adjust in small increments until shifting is smooth. Limits will no doubt be fine. There's no need to splash out on anything else, it's nothing to do with your mechs.0 -
Its Ultegra. Its rubbish. Replace it all with Red, D/A or Super Record.
Smash it all with an axe then chuck it in next door's garden.
Some people on here love Ultegra but its rubbish.

The other thing to consider is the freehub - the pawls could be sticking and then unsticking so you'd briefly lose drive.More problems but still living....0

And I'm giving it.
Ultergra is rubbish, his mechanic who has been working on it says that its broken, the solution is to replace it with something that works. Red, D/A, Super record - the Nanolights are really nice frames, so fit something that befits the frame and is available cheap in the sales (together with discount codes floating around at the moment making it a bargain).
Thanks for your comments Rick - they were useful.0 -
apart from chucking away what may be perfectly good equipment. check the mech hanger isn't bent. if in doubt, put a new one one and see if it fixes the problem, if not then you have a spare for when the hanger does get bent.
make sure the mech cable pinch bolt is done up tight. called in to the lbs after putting on new ultegra shifter and cassette, as shifting suddenly went pout the window (so to speak). pinch bolt not tight enough.--
