Hinde wheels

I was about to buy a set of mavic ksyrium elites, then I came across the David Hinde site, where he was advertising hand built wheels lighter than elites at approx half the price. I've seen some bad feedback regarding purchasing from him, but that was from around 3 years ago, has anyone had recent dealings, good or bad? the wheels are ambrosia hubs with Stan's no tube hubs, priced around £220, anyone bought these wheels, are they ok for general road use?

This is probably the same product/shop but the ebay feedback speaks for itself, should be no problem.

It is fair to say that Dave Hinde does get regularly slated. The general view seems to be that he wasn't first in the queue when it comes to customer friendly service.
If you are looking for handbuilts then Wheelsmith, Harry Rowland, Strada Wheels and Spa Cycles all get consistantly good mentions.0 -
Had a pair a while back! Worst wheels I ever bought.0

Take a look at his current Ebay feedback. He seems to be on a roll to have his worst month yet in neg feedback. Doesn't look to be improving IMO.0

I bought some open pro on ultegra 18 months ago.
Pros: cheap, good service on phone, reasonable delivery time
Cons: rear had a loose spoke out of the box, was never right, eventually needed a rebuild.
Perhaps its best to see it as a cheap way to get parts, and if the wheel holds together, its a bonus!0
