I run my brakes really tight and close and just fitted my Zipp 404's with carbon specific pads and getting real bad brake rub when I power out the saddle and I never got this with my Mavics (cosmic carbone sr's)

Will it just be the pads bedding in or will the 404 hubs need tightened??

Help as its real annoying!

Thanks

Open your pads up. There's no need to run them very close.

Unless he likes then really close like I do so that its an instant brake feel as opposed to a lot of lever movement before the brakes come on.

Apart from that, I have no idea - sorry - my carbon 50s used to do this out of the saddle but I sorted it with exacting placement of the wheel in the caliper and lots of swearing.

Have you checked that there's no play in the hub and that the QR skewer is tight?
    More problems but still living....

Yeah, skewers are tight but reckon the hub may need 'nipped up'..........the Zipps are not as stiff as I thought??......my cosmics are defo stiffer! :-(

Going to set the pads that are brand new out a bit and see if they need time to bed in and then bring my brakes in as much prefer to ride my brakes really close to rim so the lever movement is next to nothing.

No wheel is laterally perfectly stiff, but some will exhibit greater movement than others. If you're happy that the spoke tension can't be raised any more and you can't feel any play in the hub then you'll have to compromise your brake pad position.
