Considering new wheels - Fulcrum 7's?

Hi all. Just wanted some feedback if these were a decent set of wheels for £120?

Currently running the original 4ZA stratos wheels on my Ridley Eos - considering a change.

Would I see a significant benefit from my original spec bike?

In that budget you will struggle to get anything of note in terms of weight or stiffness upgrade.

7's are decent enough wheels for that money but they are entry level.

You can have my no longer used pair for £60 - I have too many wheels

I cannot comment on whether you will notice a real benefit on your current wheels, but the Fulcrum 7's are a quality wheelset. Well made, decent bearings and utterly bomb-proof. Not the lightest, but great value for money.

+1 for this. I upgraded from the original Alex Rims on my Allez. Not a huge difference in terms of weight saving but they have a real quality feel about them and are as true as the day I got them. Currently using them on my newly built Gran Fondo and they look the business too IMO.

  • Thanks for your replies. Seem to be a good investment. But before I make a final decision, are there any other wheel sets that I should consider in this price range?

I have been lent a bike with racing 7s on them and the free hub is SO noisy. Annoying.

True, but it's a 5 minute job to pop the free hub body off and add extra grease to the pawls inside. Makes a huge difference - wish I'd done it the first winter I owned a pair rather than waited a year!

I've got a pair of new Fulcrum 7's and the freehub is virtually silent.

The wheels as previously said are bombproof and look good too, they're great commuting/training wheels on the crappy potholed roads we have.
