Carerra Virago ???

hi all, very new to cycling, i'm a runner who thought i'd give it a go and i'm absolutely loving it. I am currently riding a borrowed 2005 specialized allez but looking to get my own asap. I did my first event at the weekend, the Meon Valley Riser and am hooked for sure.
the cycle to work scheme at work through halfords looks a good option and i've been looking at the new Carerra Virago full carbon for £999...wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experience of one ? the reviews seem very positive. reviews of the old one are bad but i think the new bike is a different beast ?
Was hoping to see one in the flesh at the ride and to know i'd be accepted in the cycling world if i bought a dreaded Carerra !! sadly none there that i saw.
what do people think ??
