Singlespeed bottom bracket question...

Hi all,

I've recently picked up a nice lugged steel frame to build up as a SS cheap knock-about bike (well that was the intention...) anyhoo - i'm using an old bontrager road crankset which was on my commuting bike on a 72 x 110.5mm IS bottom bracket, however the new frame has a 70mm Italian BB - is it just a matter of getting an Italian 110.5mm (ish) BB or am I missing anything else? The rear spacing is 130mm so i'm using spacers on a standard freewheel, so should be able to jig the spacers around to get the chainline right.

Cheers,

Yes, make sure the bb matches the splines of your cranks...or tapers

Cool, was hoping there wouldn't be any underlying issues i'd overlooked - not sure if the frame was originally 130mm or if it's been re-set from 126mm but the standard wheel sits perfectly straight in the dropouts & the crank is a modern road double so has std square taper axle fit - looks like a std Italian square taper BB should go right in (famous last words) :)
