How do I keep fit?

I am an active person and every weekend i cycle between 20 and 50 miles in 1 go. I feel a bit tired and worn out but that's normal. The problem is when I change from cycling to running I get tired out when I switch every 2 months or so and it just feels like i'm not getting anywhere in fitness. I only go for 3 or 5 mile runs and after that i feel worn out and struggle to get out of bed.

Is there any way to build up stamina and leg muscle to stay so I can do both sports well :?:

Thanks.
My god road cycling is scary! I'm going to keep my relaxing rides to the trails where everything is green, fast and less crazy.

  • They're 2 very different sports and you use different muscle sets for each, so when you switch from one to the other you're body will need to 'retrain' the 'unused' muscles.

Best option would be to switch more frequently..

As NM says switch more frequently and cycling 20-50miles will help but are you pushing yourself or just tottling along?

  • Yep... my main thing is duathlon (run-bike-run) and you have to do both disciplines to keep both ticking over... why do you keep switching from one to the other rather than consistently doing a mixture? Are you only training at the weekend? If so, you need to get out during the week at least 2-3 times if you want to develop fitness.
