Liking the 1x9. Always looks uncluttered and much tidier. Where did you get the brakes from and how much? I've been tempting new brakes for the Torque.

its a 1x 10 setup, im using a sram xx rear mech coupled with a sram doubletap shifter. with a 11-36 cassette and a 32t chainring it just about covers all bases and is lots lighter. believe it or not i paid £125 for both brakes basically brand new inc goodridge hoses. i had to buy the rotors,adapters and bolts but still easily under £200 for the lot. cheapest price i can find online is £240 posted from rosebikes.

mine were a very lucky find , they had been on ebay for just five seconds before i grabbed them. ive seen other second hand set going for between £170-£225 ish. i know they're a bit heavy compared to some but they are the best brakes ive ever used by some margin.

ive dumped the red grips and put the black odi intense grips back on and fitted a pair of trick red anodised cannondale bar plugs. taken the maxxis advantage tyre off and stuck a pair of 2.35 bontrager xr4 team issue tlr's. very big but very light for their size plus they grip like syrup on a squirrel. also swapping the easton haven stem for a shorter 50mm white syncros fr model with a bit of a rise. the 70mm haven feels a bit long and too low.

hers she is with the 2.35 bonty xr4's, syncros stem, black grips with c/dale end plugs and a set of red nano flats. feels much better and looks more business like.

made a couple of changes, first of all ive swapped the white revelations for a set of black ones with a 20mm thru axle instead of 15mm and the black ones also have a tapered steerer so i can take advantage of the prophets 1.5inch headtube. also swapped the wheels back to my old stans flows on superstar hubs so now i have a 20mm thru on the front and a 10mm thru axle out back and much stronger wheels along with a tapered steerer so the whole bike should feel lots stiffer and solid.

just got a nukeproof 1.5inch tapered headset and a red hope fr stem along with a pair of tubeless ready bontrager jones acx 2.35 tyres. after these changes i reckon the bike will be finished so i can get on with re-building my azonic avenger.

im actually gonna get the frame powder coated a nice silvery chrome colour colour with silver with black outline cannondale decals. its being done by a firm that refurbish car alloy wheels so the finish will be similar to the finish you see on car wheels then finished with a tough iridescent lacquer, it will be a really tough but lustrous finish, it almost looks like liquid metal. the red bits should set it off a treat. decided to paint it as the finish is quite battered when you get close up. with me really liking the bike its worth doing it up as the frame itself is solid and the new shock has transformed it . when i reassemble i will press in some new pivot bearings so it really will be like a new bike.

the prophet is fully stripped down and in a few mins she is off to the powder coaters. shes going to be away until next wed but when she comes back she will look all lovely and new and all the new red and black bits will start to make sense. my superstar switch evo front hub bearings were shot so i ordered some nice ceramic bearings from the states, amazingly they arrived in 5 days !!!!! and the price , £5.56 per bearing and free postage :shock: popped them in earlier and they spin great. i'll throw the azonic back together so i can ride this weekend.

decals turned up today and look very nice and posh, got a few other silver and red bits arriving in time to re-build on wednesday. cant wait to get it back together, if all goes to plan it should look rather special, and im going to resist putting too much anodised stuff on it

i have an image in my head as to how it will look, if my head is right it should look nice, although having said that i thnk susan boyle's a bit of a looker :P

got to the powder coaters this afternoon ready to pick my frame up. got there only to find they hadnt done it yet, they said if i could wait an hour and a half they do it. i decided to go back to my original choice of graphite grey as ive already had a frame done in the silver. anyhows here she is with decals and a few bits already fitted. next step is heli tape then i can slap all the bits on. very happy with it looks lovely in the flesh and should look good with all the red and black bits to go on. photos are not the best

here she is in her new coat of paint. really pleased with how its all gone. the bike looks brand spanking new with the added benefit of being one of a kind. i even got a bollocking of the other half for buying a new bike. the red pedals are coming off to be replaced with my trusty old xtr spd's but thats the only change i will be making as im happy with every other bit and cant see any other way of improving it. the finish is a bit darker but my camera flash has washed the pics out a bit, will get better pics when a bit brighter.

That's come out very nice. It's reminded me, that I'd completely forgotten that my old Prophet was bare alu and laquer - one of the nicest finishes I've ever owned. They're not too dis-similar really... Did you consider having it bare?

a bloke at the powder coaters suggested sand blasting the frame then applying lacquer to the bare frame but i didnt fancy it.

Who is it that does the powder coating? Thinking about a change of colour for the Meta in the next few months but will need some custom decals making up. Also need a bit of a service for my crossrides as i've noticed a couple of spokes have been worked loose (they have been hammered) and can feel a bit of flex in the back end but still seem to run true.

its a firm in bamber bridge, they have done a cracking job.

as i have treated the frame to some new clothes, the wheels have been moaning , so as i dont want to be guilty of showing any favouritism im fitting new stans no tubes flow wheel set . it a factory built wheelset with flow rims, ztr 3:30 hubs (20mm f 10mm thrurear) dt spokes and nips. total weight is 1725 grams which will save nearly 1/2 pound over the superstar/flows already fitted. the superstar wheels are going on my banshee frame so wont go to waste. going to put my rocket ron ust tyres back on whilst its getting to summer.

The red bolts that are on the brake adapters are they light got any links after sum for my build.

they are no lighter than normal, they are just red coated steel bolts. i would not use anything other than steel on brake calipers.
