When replacing a 9 speed chain, should I use the supplied master pin, or can I just use a quick link?

Is it a Shimano chain? Go for the quick link/missing link. SRAM links are one use only. KMC missing links you can reuse a couple of times.
  • Shoulda mentioned that it is Shimano.
As the use of KMC links are pretty widespread these days, surely that makes use of the Shimano master pin kinda superflous?

Sorry wrong. It is only SRAM 10spd powerlocks that are one time use. SRAM powerlinks are multi use.

Sorry for the wrong info - stand corrected.
