Arm positions on bike

Hi all, After a few rides on my new bike, ive got the saddle position corrent, knee over spindle ect, But im find myself naturally going into a position where my arms are almost straight (not quite locked out) on the hoods, so my question is do you consciously bend your elbows, or does the fit of the bike just cause it to happen naturally? Neither position is uncomfortable btw.

If it's any consolation, I'm the same. I look at all the pics in the cycling mags and the riders have their elbows conspicuously bent, even when they are in the drops. My arms tend to be nearly straight whatever I'm doing, unless I make a conscious effort to lean forwards and bend them.
I had a proper fit when I bought the bike from Epic; ordered in a smaller frame and fitted a shorter stem too.0 -
Good question!
I'm the same on my new bike, arms almost locked out when on the hoods. Nowhere near the shifters when on the drops. When is was sized up, the chap said that I was inbetween a 110mm and 100mm stem. There was already a 110 fitted so I said I'd give it a go.
Three weeks later, Bontrager 100mm Race Lite stem robbed fro fleabay for less than a Nigel Ben!!!Trek 1.1c (2012) - For commuting

Like i said its not uncomfortable for me, i seem to bend my elbows more in the drops. Maybe ill just gradually start to use a lower position as i get used to the road bike.0

Having straight arms can lead to tension in the shoulder and neck - if you can ride for extended periods in your position without discomfort, then I wouldn't worryMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
